Low correlation between random synaptic inputs impacts considerably on the output of the Hodgkin-Huxley model

چکیده
The e!ects of positive and negative correlation, c, between (N"100) random synaptic inputs (each "ring at 100 Hz) on the mean and coe$cient of variation (CV) of interspike interval (ISI) of the Hodgkin}Huxley model are examined, for di!erent IPSP/EPSP frequency ratios, r. Mean (ISI) and CV are approximately constant (30}40 ms, and 0.75, respectively) under independence for r3[0,1], unlike the leaky I&F model. Low positive correlations (cK0.1) reduce mean ISI and CV up to threefold to the regular "ring range; small negative correlations (cK!0.005) double mean ISI and increase CV by 25%. Effects of Correlation and Degree of Balance in Random Synaptic Inputs on the Output of the Hodgkin-Huxley Model
A b s t r a c t . We examine the effects of degree of balance between inhibitory and excitatory random synaptic inputs, and of positive correlation between the inputs on the mean and variability of the output of the classical Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) model for squid giant axon, using computer simulation. The mean interspike interval (ISI) and the coefficient of variation of ISI change little as the ...
متن کاملA new circuit model for the Parameters in equations of low power Hodgkin-Huxley neuron cell
In this paper, α and β parameters and gating variables equations of Hodgkin-Huxley neuron cell have been studied. Gating variables show opening and closing rate of ion flow of calcium and potassium in neuron cell. Variable functions α and β, are exponential functions in terms of u potential that have been obtained by Hodgkin and Huxley experimentally to adjust the equations of neural cells. In ...
متن کاملInvestigating Correlation Properties of Hodgkin- Huxley Model with Leaky Integrate–and-Fire Model
Behavioral study of linear model i.e. Integrate and fire model is compared with non-linear model i.e. Hodgkin-Huxley model. Both the models output are affected by Poisson inputs that are correlated positively. Responses of Integrate and fire model and Hodgkin-Huxley models differ in terms of correlated inputs. Linear Integrate and fire model is better for correlated inputs. Non-Linear model dis...
متن کاملBehavior of integrate-and-fire and Hodgkin-Huxley models with correlated inputs.
We assess, both numerically and theoretically, how positively correlated Poisson inputs affect the output of the integrate-and-fire and Hodgkin-Huxley models. For the integrate-and-fire model the variability of efferent spike trains is an increasing function of input correlation, and of the ratio between inhibitory and excitatory inputs. Interestingly for the Hodgkin-Huxley model the variabilit...
متن کاملA Critical Comparison between Spike-Train Responses of Integrate-and-Fire and Hodgkin-Huxley Neurons
Spike-train responses of single integrate-and-fire (IF) neurons with and without the refractory period, are compared with those of a Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron. The HH and IF neurons are assumed to receive spike-train inputs with the constant interspike intervals (ISIs) and stochatic ISIs given by the Gamma distribution, through excitatory synaptic couplings. It is shown that the response to th...
